There’s a strong sweaty class that I go to sometimes. But I’m not going to go anymore. The teacher has given me some alignment points I fundamentally disagree with, so even though it’s convenient, I appreciate the workout, and I get to do ‘advanced’ poses – I’m not going to go. I can practice with someone else, or by myself. I know better, so I’ll do better.
How many times have I gone back to classes where I don’t get what’s right for me (or right, period), or allowed teachers to give me bad or dangerous adjustments? I need to take more responsibility for my experience. I need to say no.
And again, this is not just about yoga. Let’s see where saying ‘no’ can take me – or you!
